June 1, 2008 - Fairfax County Public School Provides More Than 100 Copies of Glori to Students and Staff

Bryant Alternative High School provided more than 100 copies of Glori to its students and staff.  The school has found that Glori has been a vital tool in connecting with and inspiring pregnant and parenting teens and youth in general.   To find out more, please click here.  

May 15, 2008 - Nicole Partners with RevolutionHealth.com to Create Online Forum for Pregnant Teens

Nicole has created an online forum on www.revolutionhealth.com for pregnant and parenting teens to share their stories and find support.  Nicole will be participating in the discussions as well as posting questions.  Any pregnant or parenting teen can join the group to get advice, track the progress of her pregnancy, and more.  To see what all the buzz is about, please click here.

October 27, 2007 - Nicole makes presentation at Youth Professional Development's Annual Retreat

Nicole conducted a session on goal achievement and self empowerment to attendees of Youth Professional Development's annual retreat in Port Deposit, Md.  The audience consisted of teen mothers from various schools in Prince George's County, Md.  The organization is working with Nicole to purchase books for each of the girls.  To find out more about Youth Professional Development, please visit www.ypd-md.org.

October 12, 2007 - Nicole Marries Donte Lewis

On October 12th, Nicole married her college sweetheart Donte Lewis in Baltimore, Md.  The two met in 2002 at the College of William & Mary and currently reside in Columbia, Md.   To see photos of the wedding, please click here

October 10, 2007 - Nicole to partner with Youth Dreamers

Starting in January 2008, Nicole will be giving a series of workshops on topics found in her book Glori to girls in the Youth Dreamers health class.  Youth Dreamers are a group of students in grades seven through ten at Baltimore's The Stadium School, who decided that they want their voices to be heard. In their belief that youth can make a difference, they plan their own after school programs to prevent after school violence and are working to create a center where community youth can have fun and be safe.   Each girl will be given a copy of Glori, and Nicole will come talk to the girls at different points in their reading to discuss topics in the book such as peer pressure, sexual identity and healthy relationships.   To learn more about Youth Dreamers please click here

Nicole Partners with A Wider Circle to Reach Teen Mothers

Nicole has partnered with A Wider Circle, a nonprofit addressing the inner and outer needs of adults and children challenged by homelessness, poverty, substance abuse, and other health and social issues.  A Wider Circle has recently launched a program called “Well Mother, Well Baby,” which is an educational and outreach initiative preparing young mothers for a healthy pregnancy and bright future.  The program provides weekly small group meetings for expectant teen mothers that offer support and educational information on topics such as financial planning, stress and anger management, self-esteem, parenting skills, prenatal yoga, infant massage, nutrition for pregnancy and much more.  Beginning April 2007, Nicole will be speaking during the sessions about her experience as a teen mom and A Wider Circle will provide each girl with a copy of her new book, GLORI.
